St Michael’s Home for abused girls has a very special place in the heart of Newkidz on the Block, having met many of the girls from this Home and interacting with them, it was such a joy to know that we were going to be able to do an upgrade of their facility.Volunteers showed up in their droves to contribute to completing at least 3-weeks worth of work in just 3-days.

All the girls rooms were painted, courtesy of a fantastic donation of paint from Duram Smart Paints; tasteful quotations from the famous Dr Seuss were transposed onto many walls, one of the many sayings was “Why fit in when you were born to stand out”. The girls carpets were steam cleaned courtesy of Hire It Brackenfell who leant us all the equipment for free and each girl received new bedding courtesy of Hospitality suites.

The volunteers worked tirelessly sorting books to make their library more amenable and conducive to studying and recreational reading.

The passages were adorned with beautiful dado rails along the entire length sponsored by Superior Cabinet Doors but it was the sweat, elbow grease and endurance of the volunteers that resulted in beautifully upgraded rooms including their dining and recreation room, snooker table and all.

Newkidz volunteers you rock!
