Paul Otto is a marginalized educare situated in Mandalay, Mitchells Plain.
The area is rife with crime and unemploymentis high. Paul Otto serves the community of Mandalay
by providing a safe space for 55 children to be educated and looked after, at a minimal cost.
The teachers are passionate and doing an incredible job.
Paul Otto, a marginalized educare, situated in the heart of a disadvantaged community. They cater for 55 children between the ages of 2-6. The children receive breakfast and lunch while they are at Paul Otto. Unfortunately although the teachers are passionate about what they do, they lack the recourses to fully do their jobs.
This worthy educare is operating from a big hall. Their “classrooms” were divided by crates and pallets. There was no privacy and noise was an issue. It was difficult for the teachers to allow the children to play outside as the outside play area was worn down and the swings were broken.
THE CHANGE With the help of Woolworths, Newkidz was able to give Paul Otto educare something they have been wanting and desperately needing for so long – Classrooms! We built 3 big sized classrooms for the teachers out of dry wall, giving them each their own privacy and space to teach the children to the best of their ability. The classrooms were painted with a bright feature wall of the teacher’s choice. The play area was fixed up, painted and new swings were installed. We were able to give the educare many extras like a compactum for the babies, cots, educational toys and a few other things to make their lives easier!
THERE IS MORE…. With all the renovations and a fresh look to the classrooms, we noticed that the inside area was now looking worn out. So in true Newkidz fashion, we decided to give the entire inside area a lick of paint. All in all, Paul Otto is looking amazing and the teachers are extremely grateful for it all.
