Percy Bartley House 2017-11-16T14:16:11+00:00

Percy Bartley House is a boys home in Woodstock.

They take care of 25 boys from the ages of 12 – 17, most of whom come from off the street, from dysfunctional families and are often neglected.

The Need

Percy Bartley, like with most orphanages and places of safety for abandoned and abused children, the homes and facilities are in poor condition due to lack of finances and minimal helping hands. So Newkidz on the block & Woolworths joined forces and conducted an extreme makeover for Percy Bartley house. The home is old and therefore the paint was chipping and weathered. We were able to do a full paint revamp of the courtyard which is the first thing the boys see when they leave their rooms. We painted the pot plants too that added a vibrant splash of color. The bedrooms were also in desperate need of a paint & we were able to clean, re-arranged and paint all 6! The boy’s bathroom will get a few new fittings, including shower curtains, an extractor fan, tiles, mirror etc. It will also get a full paint and clean. There will also be an upgrade to the dining hall – including a paint, new tables, floor sand and overall neatening of the area. The end result will be a fresh and uplifting environment for the children in the home.

There is more… Woolworths went the extra mile and gave each child new bedding for their bed. The boys were absolutely overjoyed!!! We were also able to put in new flooring into their TV room upstairs, which is a lot more solid and durable for the home. The staff worked fantastically as a team and can be proud of the amazing work they have done.
